New Vision, New Design

Thanks to Rachelskirts for the inspiration to redesign the site! I’ve been using the same theme for a good long while now. I’ve changed the header and the color scheme a few times, sure, but it’s always been the same. This new design is, as you can tell, drastically different. It’s representative of the new lease I’ve got on life, as I shared in my last post.

There’s something refreshing about being happy with my current situation, and likewise, I figured this place could use some sprucing up. Please, leave a comment letting me know what you think, and if there’s anything you think might be better. I imagine I’ll be making a few tweaks here and there, but I was just too excited, and worked too hard to not put it up today.

Special thanks to Sam over at 85ideas.com for creating the “Motion” theme, which I have used as a base. It’s been adapted pretty heavily, but I couldn’t have done it without his having created and released Motion. You should go check out his work. It’s pretty top-notch.

New Stuff!

I’ve been doing some more additions / playing around with things in Wordpress over the last couple of days, and I’ve got a few things I thought I’d let you know about.

First of all, I love Wordpress 2.6. While it took some configuring when I upgraded, everything’s running smoothly, and the new administrative page is really nice. I’m really digging the new AJAX control panel.

Secondly, I’ve added gravatars to the comments. If you don’t already have an account, you can go sign up at en.gravatar.com. You can upload your own image, or choose from theirs, and get your own avatar at blogs all over the net. Anywhere that uses gravatar avatars will pull your personal avatar without you having to do anything at all, just use the same email address in filling out the comment form as your Gravatar account. It’s not a core feature, by any means, but it’s certainly a lot of fun.

I hope you enjoy the new domain, the new version of Wordpress, and the new Gravatar feature.

New Header and Color Scheme

After a tough week of school, including midterms, papers, a conference, and a million other things, I decided to take a break tonight and make a new header and a new color scheme. Rachelskirts didn’t even make me.

I’ve been wanting to do something with greens for a while now, but I always had trouble with it. Here’s the green. Like my last design, there’s a whole lot of it. If you don’t like green, sorry!

Anyways. Thoughts? Comments? Broken things that I need to fix? Let me know!

Per the usual, thanks to Squidfingers for the pattern.

More Good News

Well, just to start, if you’ll take a look up top, I made a new header tonight. I’d appreciate your comments on it!

Ok, on to the good (well, better. A new header /is/ pretty good news) news. This past Friday, after much hassle with the hospital, I finally got a copy of the radiologists report from the MRI that I had this past Monday (the 24th). They were looking for Syringomyelia (basically, small sacks of retained spinal fluid), and thankfully, they found nothing. That means that while I still have the Chiari Malformation, I don’t have to drop everything this semester and have it fixed right now. I can wait until the semester is over, which takes a huge amount of strain off of me.

I’m probably going to have the surgery come December, but I have one more doctor’s visit to go to October 10, to make sure that the hearing loss isn’t related to anything else.

I had a date and I found out that I can wait on having this surgery. I count it as being a good week.

I’ll continue updating as I know more.
